The Rainier
Contact John about building a custom camperA new camper in the works…
March 2019
This is the start of the Rainier trailer in late March 2019. John found this trailer and he’ll use it as a base for this new project.
The new project now really begins. This image shows the base of the trailer after stripping it down. Next is sanding and getting it ready for new construction.
John will add more tubes to stiffen the floor, and he’ll move the axle back since this project will be more like a traditional teardrop trailer. This will help distribute the weight more evenly, especially since the rear galley adds a lot of weight towards the rear.

This is one of the side walls. It already has insulation, as well as construction adhesive. Next John will screw on the outside skin.
Another view of the side wall. Notice the cutout pockets for the crossbeams. This extra step adds stiffness and strength to the roof.
This view shows where the rear galley will be. You can also see the crossbeams.

From this view, you can clearly see the crossbeams and sidewalls, as well as the floor platform.
